Reception service was excellent throughout our stay at Catalonia Oro Negro in Tenerife. Check-in was quick, and the staff were helpful whenever we needed something. There are a couple of extra charges to know about: pool towels need a €10 cash deposit each, exchanged for a token, and the room safe costs €3 per day. You pay at reception and get a code to activate it. Our room on the 8th floor had a wraparound balcony with lovely sea and volcano views, a great place to sit and relax. The room itself looked recently renovated and was finished to a high standard, with a gorgeous bathroom, huge walk-in shower, and excellent lighting. The bed wasn’t the most comfortable we’ve slept in, but it was fine and we slept well. Housekeeping came daily and changed the towels every day. The hallway outside the room felt tired and quite dark, and could use brighter lights to make a better first impression. The pool area was very nice. There’s also a rooftop pool for an extra charge, I believe, though we didn’t feel we needed to use it. The hotel is about a 10-15-minute walk from the Golden Mile, with plenty of restaurants and places to eat nearby. We booked half board but ate out every day, so can’t comment on the hotel food. The main downside was traffic noise from the busy road. Even with the balcony doors shut, it still sounded as if they were open. Apart from that, we had a very good stay and would happily return.

We had a great selection at breakfast and dinner, and the food was topped up often. Nuno and Anna looked after us really well at both meals. We were also upgraded for free on arrival to one of the best rooms, modern and stylish, with a good view over the pool area and seafront. The room kept the nightlife noise out, even though it wasn’t far away. We’d definitely stay here again.

The location was handy, about five minutes on foot to the beach and ten minutes to the main bus station, with shops nearby. There was entertainment every evening, including singers and magicians. The restaurant and bar staff were polite, friendly, and fun, and made me and my young son feel welcome. The food had a good variety. The pool was spotless, and I could see from my balcony that it was cleaned each morning. My room stayed clean and comfortable, with fresh bed sheets and towels every day. Reception staff were incredibly helpful and polite, and responded quickly whenever I needed anything. When I accidentally locked my suitcase, they got a technician with tools to me in less than five minutes. Impressive service! I’d read some negative reviews, so I especially appreciated how honest the staff were. I accidentally left several things in the room, and nothing went missing. Hotel Catalonia Oro Negro exceeded what I expected from a 3-star hotel. I had a wonderful stay and would happily recommend it.

We booked two standard rooms with bathtubs for medical reasons, but when we arrived we were given two tiny rooms, about half the size, with showers only. Staff said the hotel was “full” and showed no flexibility. If you have particular health or accessibility needs, I’d look for another hotel. I wouldn’t rely on this place to honor reservations or take those needs seriously. There are many other hotels in the area that seem more reliable and professional.

The staff made this stay for me, especially Ms. Belen, one of the waitresses. She greeted us every day with a big smile and was so pleasant. The hotel also has a great view and really good food, and it’s close to the stadium, beaches, and lots of shops. We had a wonderful time in Tenerife. Room 735.
