Torres del Sol 12th floor Teide and Atlantic view

The cockroaches were the worst part. We saw them around the kitchen, living area and even in the bed. One night we came back to several crawling over the fridge and counters, and we were too frightened to sleep normally, so we left all the lights on. It ruined our final night. We’d booked this apartment for a week through booking.com. It was C2 302, owned by a couple called Maria and Nestor. On arrival it clearly hadn’t been cleaned properly, despite the €79.76 cleaning fee. There was hair, including body hair, on the bathroom floor, the balcony was sticky, the floors were gritty and dirty, and the mirrors weren’t clean. After our stay I contacted the owners, but they were dismissive. They denied responsibility, refused compensation and blamed the environment instead of addressing the problems. For nearly €675, this was extremely disappointing. I wouldn’t stay again, and I strongly recommend Booking.com review the property’s pest control and cleaning standards so other guests don’t have the same experience.

I booked this hotel two months ahead for Christmas, then was told to cancel for no stated reason. If I cancelled, I wouldn’t get a full refund. After I contacted the platform to cancel, the hotel immediately raised the price. It seems they thought my early booking was a good deal and wanted to rent the room out for more over Christmas. A horrible, shady place. Never book it.

The location is excellent for the beach, but I won’t be rushing back. The shared areas look tired and need renovating. The sunbeds are poor quality, there aren’t enough for the pool users, and I don’t agree with paying €1 each day for one. Rooms are privately owned, and we saw some lovely ones, but ours was very dated. The shower gave us only three minutes of hot water before turning cold.

Playa de la Vistas is gorgeous and only a two-minute walk away, with four restaurants overlooking the beach right there. The location is easily the best thing about Torre Del Sol. We loved our eight-night stay: the room was clean, comfortable, well equipped, and easy to reach by lift. We didn’t need much from the staff, but when we did, they were friendly and helpful. The two pools are lovely, though a €1 sunbed should come with a parasol. Highly recommend.
