The chapel was especially peaceful and beautiful, and the grounds were quiet, with birds chirping all around. The hotel and its grounds are lovely, the service was kind and friendly, and we really enjoyed the delicious dinner. Would gladly come back.

Pazo de Brandeso is a wonderfully distinctive place to stay, with a remarkable building and a real sense of being at home with the guests and owners. We spent two days there and found the staff very friendly and the service great. The food was local and very good. If you’re near Santiago de Compostela in Spain, book a stay.

The pool was lovely to swim in, and Raquel and the chef made a delicious dinner and breakfast. Pazo de Brandeso is a 400-year-old palace, but our night in Room 22 was badly disrupted by mosquitoes. My son and I killed 17 during the night, even though the windows were closed, and we couldn’t tell where they were hiding. After breakfast, I told the owner, who was there that morning, about the miserable night. He replied, “Well, that's what happens in the countryside,” then sent me to Raquel and walked away. Raquel listened empathetically and shared my horror at there being so many mosquitoes. I asked her to tell the housekeepers about the blood stains on the walls and ceiling from the 17 dead mosquitoes.

It felt like staying in an English mansion in Spain. The hosts, setting, and food were wonderful, and our spacious, comfortable room made us feel like royalty. Highly recommend.
