San Marcos

Getting to the hotel from the tourist centre is easy, and there are lots of nearby restaurants and cafes. My room was very spacious and had all the basics. During my stay, though, they were digging up the road in front, which made access difficult.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the room and bathroom were generously sized. It’s a two-star hotel in the middle of Badajoz's old town, yet better than some three-star places I’ve stayed at. Modern features, good-quality furniture and finishes give the rooms a nice feel. The walls between rooms are quite thin, so sounds carried more than my girlfriend and I would have liked, though it wasn’t a major issue. Wi-Fi didn’t reach our room, but staff gave us a LAN cable for the laptop, so we were fine. Great value for travellers on a budget who still want comfort. I’d recommend it.

The staff were very attentive, but this clearly wasn’t a place to rest after a long trip, an outing, or a business day. The air conditioning ran all night but only blew air instead of cooling, which seems like a clear maintenance problem. Water leaked in the room all night too.

I’d highly recommend this hotel. The receptionist helped explain what to see and where to go, and even came over to translate for us when we ate tapas at the restaurant next door. You need to book for the garage parking. The Wi-Fi was exceptionally good, and the rooms were nice and clean, with a good bathroom and a cosy bed. The receptionist was really helpful. We loved it.
