Bungalows Camping Caños de Meca

The reception guys were very nice, but that didn’t make up for not being able to sleep. The noise seemed to come from everywhere: traffic on the street behind the camping, from mopeds heading to the beach to heavy vehicles and everything in between. Bars stayed open until 2 am, dogs barked nonstop, roosters started up at 3 am, and some campers decided to watch TV at 2 am. Noise is the main thing I remember.

The pool area is really nice, and it’s good that there’s a baby bathroom. We were there in early October with our caravan, when it was quiet, clean and not very crowded, and the staff were friendly. But the pitches are very dusty, which isn’t great with a little child. Tree resin got all over our camper and our child’s skin and clothes.

The deluxe bungalow was decent, with good-sized rooms and air conditioning. The kitchenette had all the crockery we needed and a generously sized fridge. It’s a pretty good place for children, too, with a great pool and a supermarket for whatever you need. The TV was smaller than I’d like 😜

Great staff and fantastic amenities, but the location wasn’t good for me. From 11 am to 11 pm it was very noisy, with people talking, music and radios, and kids running around. It wasn’t traffic noise. As a touring cyclist needing a place to stay and wash clothes, it would be okay, but otherwise I’d forget it. Now the weekend’s over, it’s actually quite tranquil. Avoid high season and weekends.
