1881 Barcelona Gran Rosellon Hotel

We'd happily return to 1881 Barcelona Rosellón Hotel and recommend it to anyone visiting Barcelona. It offered a good mix of comfort, convenience and value. The rooftop terrace was a relaxing spot after sightseeing, and the rooms were clean, comfortable and well kept. The staff stood out for being friendly and helpful, always ready with recommendations or answers. The location was fantastic for getting to Barcelona's attractions, restaurants and shopping areas.

The reception staff were friendly and smiling, and the location was good. Beyond that, the stay was awful, and I wouldn't recommend the hotel. My room was tiny and deeply uncomfortable. The bed and mattress made it hard to sleep properly for the entire trip. The toilet was shockingly dirty, completely unacceptable in a hotel. Cleanliness felt like minus 10 out of 10. I also saw used coffee cups washed in the bathroom sink and then left for guests to use again, which was disgusting and unhygienic. Breakfast was terrible, below even basic standards, with nothing fresh or appetizing. Each day I wanted to stay out as long as possible to avoid returning to the room. The polite reception staff couldn't make up for such a disappointing experience.

For two people, the room was spacious and nice, and the bathroom had two sinks. The hotel's in a good location and we could walk to Casa Batlló. Sometimes the water wasn't hot enough for a shower at night, but overall it was a great hotel.

I have never seen such disgusting service. More than 10 days before my stay, I called the hotel to ask to cancel because my flight was cancelled and I couldn't travel on those dates. I spoke to the manager, ALexandro, who told me to email a cancellation request and explain what had happened. I sent three emails and made five calls, but got no response at all. They just kept my $1156 Australian dollars, with no response and not even an offer to rebook me for later in the year. When I called again, they didn't care. I can't believe a hotel would treat customers this way or think it's their right to take that money without even offering a partial refund. I guarantee I won't drop this, and they'll keep getting bad reviews from me. If I could give minus one star, I would.
