The one staff member who really helped us at reception was polite and understanding, and tried his best when problems came up. The location was decent, around a 20-minute walk from the city center, but that didn’t make up for the stay. I’ve been to more than 15 countries and stayed at countless hotels, and this was one of my most disappointing experiences. I wouldn’t return and would tell travelers to consider other options carefully. There were a lot of unpleasant surprises from check-in onward. The per-person city tax caught us off guard, since most hotels I’ve stayed in handle it differently. Wi-Fi was restricted to one device per guest. We were also asked to pay for bottled water we hadn’t used. That was eventually cleared up, but it was an unnecessary hassle and left a bad impression. The room was another problem. The walls are extremely thin, so even ordinary sounds from neighboring rooms came through clearly and made it hard to relax or sleep. The hotel felt outdated, with old key-operated lockers instead of modern electronic safes, and a further €10 deposit required for the key.

It’s a pretty basic 3-star place, but it works. The rooms are spacious, the beds are clean, and the bathrooms are a decent size and clean too. There’s no kettle, tea or coffee, or iron in the room. The breakfast space is roomy, though the food choices are limited.

The receptionists were kind, amazing, and really helpful, and the location is great. The accommodation itself wasn’t the quality I expected from a 3-star hotel. There were stains all over the bedroom walls, and it was clear things weren’t repaired or refreshed often. The bathtub wasn’t watertight, so water spread across the floor. The wooden door frame looked like it had been damaged by water before. Breakfast was okay, but the coffee wasn’t good, which should be the bare minimum. I could hear people coming out of the lift all night and in the morning. The staff are the only reason I’d give it three stars, and the stay wasn’t worth the price. The hotel urgently needs refreshing. The lobby seems to have been done, but that doesn’t make people forget they’re here for the rooms.

I arrived after 1:00 a.m. and had to get up at 7:00 a.m. for a business trip, but I couldn’t sleep at all in the first-floor room they gave me, facing a busy junction. I asked if I could move for the second night, and the staff made no effort to help. They said my belongings were already in the room and they couldn’t touch them. I understand that, but they could at least have reserved another room, and they didn’t. The breakfast was no better. I was also told that the airport shuttle has to be requested several days ahead, even if the reservation was made that same day. My experience at Hotel Viladomat was very disappointing. In my opinion, it isn’t customer oriented. It felt like taking customers’ money mattered more than providing good service. One of the worst hotel stays I’ve had.
