Hotel America Barcelona

The rooftop bar and pool were gorgeous, and room service was a nice bonus. I spent five days and four nights here and had an AMAZING time. There are two metro stations and plenty of bus stops nearby, though I mostly walked because so many hotspots are close. The location is perfect. The room was spotless, the beds EXTREMELY comfortable, and all the necessities were provided. Check-in and checkout were quick and efficient. Staff were polite and attentive, and helped me through a small incident that was my own fault. I loved my stay and would love to come back. We stayed two nights and I arranged a special surprise for my girlfriend. Everything was amazing, but the receptionist really stood out as professional, attentive, and genuinely kind. We checked out this morning. Highly recommend the hotel!

It was the worst experience I've ever had. On arrival, I found dust in the coffee corner and all over the spot where the glasses were kept. Then I went into the bathroom and saw hair on the toilet. The room should have been cleaned before we arrived, but we were told it had been. Giving a guest a room like that was terrible behavior, especially at an expensive hotel. We told reception, and a woman came over. We couldn't understand what she was doing. When we pointed out the dust, she pulled a random cloth from her bag and wiped the glasses by hand. It was ridiculous. We asked for another room, but in that one there were cut hairs in the sink. Completely disgusting. We wanted to leave right away. Luckily, the reception staff took our concern seriously and refunded us. Don't stay here if you don't want your holiday ruined.

The staff were friendly, the location was great, and street noise was quiet. But we could hear shoes clacking on the tile floor above us. I was disappointed to be charged for all the tea and coffee, though it was great that cava and pastries were free. We'd paid for a deluxe room with a king bed, but it was smaller than a twin room.
