Rafa and the young woman on the night shift were friendly and helpful. The hotel’s location made it easy to get around, and while the room was decent, it could use quite a few upgrades.

We enjoyed our stay. The room was clean and nice, the bathroom a bit small, but the main bedroom was large and great. There was also a cozy little back yard area 😊

The hosts were quick to respond on WhatsApp, which is their preferred way to communicate. If you can, arrive between 9am and 2pm, since I believe someone is at the desk then. For a later arrival, you need to contact them on WhatsApp to check in. It was a lovely base for our time in Barcelona, with an easy route to and from the airport and around the city. Our room wasn’t anything special, but it was spacious and had what we needed. We liked the big windows and small balcony. The street is fairly busy, but closing the windows kept the noise out.

The plumbing was the biggest problem. The sink gurgled loudly enough to wake us and keep us awake, which shouldn’t be happening at a hotel charging over 150€/night. We spent four nights at AMRA Barcelona in September 2024 and paid 635 euros for two people. That included a 20€ late check-in fee because our flight was delayed. I could have accepted that if the rest had been great, though plenty of hotels use self check-in instead of paying someone to stay up late. We’ve had better stays for 60€/night. There were a few positives: a tiny but usable balcony, enough room for luggage, and a good location. The downsides were long. The doors were thin, so we heard late arrivals and hallway noise all the time. The mini fridge had mold. One towel was stained, and the others smelled as if they’d been hung to dry in a room where food was fried. The bedding didn’t close, leaving the duvet against your body, which felt unhygienic. There was an uncomfortable plasticky carpet everywhere, including the bathroom. The bathroom fixtures were loose, the room wasn’t nicely finished, and the shower head looked like it had never been descaled. From the other reviews, maybe this was a good deal a few years ago. There’s still a “9/10 Rating on Booking.com” sign from 2015 sitting proudly on the receptionist’s desk, but it seems no effort has gone into the place since then. It just doesn’t hold up today.
