Apartments Sant Jordi Fontanella

A nice apartment in a central spot, close to the sights and with good transport connections.

The location and price are the only two good things here. It’s an old, poorly maintained hotel, with a musty smell at the entrance. There are several apartments in the building, so the hotel doesn’t occupy the whole place. The bed wasn’t comfortable. You’re expected to keep quiet for the neighbors and not close the kitchen cupboard doors, yet the entrance door is terribly noisy. The hotel’s name puts St. Jordi to shame. I won’t return or recommend it, unless someone only needs a bed. I really can’t understand how its average Booking score is so high.

The location is great, and it’s cheap and near the main transit hub. But it’s hard to believe how little care has gone into the place. The walls are only half painted, sockets come loose when you unplug a charger, and the cleaning is superficial. There was construction work going on, smoking is allowed everywhere, and the beds are an atrocity, fixed to the walls too. Cheap only goes so far.

The beds were really uncomfortable, so that’s the one thing keeping this from a five star review. Still, it’s a huge place and a great price for Barcelona hotels, and I’d recommend it to everyone. You can walk everywhere from this fantastic location. There’s a kitchen with a fridge, a clean, very large bathroom, and a balcony overlooking a lightly traveled street, though there isn’t enough room to put a chair out there.
