Bcn Condal Hostal

The location couldn’t be better, just two blocks from Sagrada familia, and I had the best time at this hostel. My room was large, very clean, and well maintained, with a private bathroom. Parthik at reception was super helpful and gave me great recommendations. I’ll definitely come back!

We arrived after check-in time, which was our mistake, I admit. But the hosts wouldn’t even answer the phone or help us sort it out. We only got voicemail telling us to leave a message. An absolute disgrace. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy. Avoid it.

The reception staff were nice, and we had a private room to ourselves. The room was okay, but the washroom opened into it and had a large window we couldn’t leave open without risking something flying inside. The portable AC needed emptying when its tray filled, and it filled up that same night after reception had closed. We had to handle it ourselves, and the unit was quite heavy. A proper AC and an exhaust fan would be worthwhile improvements.

The location is convenient, but the old windows do little to block the heavy street noise. The room looked bigger in the photos than it really was, and it had a thick layer of dust that had never been cleaned. The hallway toilet was often clogged, especially the men's one. There was no sense of hospitality from the owners, and guests were treated like cattle. Arrive before 10h or after 19h and you may not be able to get your room because the owner doesn't answer her phone. Even if you book after 19h for that same night, you can lose time, money, and peace of mind while calling the booking platform to find another hotel, paid for and supported by B&C. I saw this happen three times in my first two days.
