The rooms are made from what looks like a garage conversion, especially from the outside. The street-facing “wall” is a piece of plastic with badly applied white paint, and the dividers between rooms are thin wooden sheets that don't reach all the way up or down. You hear a lot, and there isn't much privacy. The room is hot, with no proper ventilation, and doors make loud noises when moved. Our supposedly private bathroom wasn't private in practice. We had a key, but other guests still got in, and we found their makeup and toiletries inside. The bathroom was very dirty, with mould on the shower curtain and wood, plus a clogged drain that left water around our ankles. The tap water was too hot and couldn't be adjusted. The shower only gave a small amount of water for a few seconds each time you pressed it. There was no useful communication or help. We complained and sent reminders, but only got a reply along the lines of “the bathroom must be private.” Reception was always closed, so there was nobody to ask or report the problems to, and no solution was offered. This is by far the worst hostel I've stayed in. If you're watching your budget, I'd look outside the city instead; this really isn't worth it, and I wouldn't recommend it. We honestly wondered how the owner could see the place and think it was good enough. Shameful.

There is no privacy: the rooms are hot and noisy, with no ventilation, and the doors squeal loudly whenever they move. The walls don't close off the rooms either. They're made from 5mm pressed wood, with fence lattice above the doors. At least the place wasn't dirty, and the cleaning lady was great. But the hostel needs to spend more euros on proper walls so these can actually be private rooms. The lack of effort is astonishing. It's the worst I've seen. Don't stay here. If this is your only option, stay outside the city.

Bedcelona isn't a bad deal for the price and location. We spent two nights as a group of three, and had a pretty great stay, with La Sagrada Familia quite close by. Each room has its own bathroom and shower, which is a big plus. The shower head in ours had oddly strong pressure, but it got us clean. There's a shared fridge and microwave, and maybe a stove, though we didn't try it. The walls are super thin, so you'll just have to put up with that.

It was a tiny place with eight beds, and kind of felt like being inside a prison cell. There was AC, which made it breathable even though there weren't proper walls. For each room there's a private bathroom, which was handy, but the shower only runs for two seconds at a time, so you have to keep pressing the button. No towels were provided, so bring your own. We paid 170€ split between five people. The location was good, but don't count on windows. The rooms are basically storage spaces separated by cardboard partitions, and you can hear people whispering in the other rooms. It's noisy, so I wouldn't recommend it if you have trouble sleeping. When I read “thin walls” in other reviews, I didn't think they meant actual cardboard partitions. There was only one key, so a group has to stick together or leave it in the code-locked box. I did manage to sleep some, and we were only there to sleep anyway. Still, I wouldn't stay more than one night.

The location and place itself are good. The shower stalls are cramped but fine, and you can use the kitchen and eat at their big table. But they should take more care about who's staying there. I had a really bad experience with a man in my room who seemed like a lunatic. Other guys told us it wasn't the first time something like that had happened.
