We could walk almost everywhere because the hotel is right by La Rambla. The bed was so comfortable we didn’t want to get up, and the shower pressure was just right. We also loved the all-day free tea, coffee, fruit, and pastries on the ground floor, plus the rooftop Honesty Bar. Service was friendly and amazing throughout the trip. I’d ordered a carrot birthday cake from the chef for my husband’s birthday, and it was exceptional. A comfortable, quirky hotel.

Our main complaint was the mattress. It was much too firm for both of us as side sleepers, and we woke up with sore hips each morning. The welcome was lovely, though: two front desk staff showed us around the dining area and our room when we checked in. The shower was great, with an open area and rain shower, wand, or bidet setting. Our windows looked onto a plant-filled enclosed courtyard, giving us complete privacy since we couldn’t see any other rooms. I thought I’d booked through an associated restaurant, but they had no record of it, probably my mistake, and they worked to sort it out. I liked the breakfast area too, where it was clear by location what was included and what wasn’t.

I live nearby and wasn’t a guest, but I feel I have to share what happened today and the kindness I experienced at this hotel. Around 5:30 PM, after my son Ayash finished school, my wife and I were spending time together. We’d just eaten when he said, “Dad, I want to walk by myself. See if I can walk.” We let him go ahead and followed behind. Then a huge storm hit. The rain was heavy and the wind fierce, and in an instant we lost sight of Ayash. Hail started falling too. We searched everywhere in a panic but couldn’t find him. My wife was crying uncontrollably, and I was shivering with cold and fear. Desperate, I ended up outside this hotel and asked the staff if I could borrow an umbrella so I could keep searching for my son. I promised I’d bring it back as soon as I could. The hotel management said yes straight away, without a moment’s hesitation. Their kindness overwhelmed me. It felt as though that umbrella was the key to finding Ayash. After searching a little longer in the storm, I found him. I’m truly grateful to the receptionist, the manager, and everyone at the hotel. They showed real humanity to a neighbor in distress, along with a high level of professionalism. I’ll never forget it.

The room had plenty of space, with a separate sitting area and even a hammock. We also loved the delicious breakfast and the super friendly staff. I especially want to mention Carlos, who has the warm, generous, jovial spirit of this fine city. A friend strongly recommended this gem, and I can see why. It’s in Barcelona’s Ciutat Vella, close to restaurants, shops, and historic sites.
