The location is great, and the room I had with a queen size bed was quite big. There are two bathrooms for the 5 guest rooms, and I never had trouble using them. There's also a well-equiped kitchen for guests who want to save some money. The rooms aren't soundproof, so you can hear other guests. They also charge for check-in after 8pm.
The owner family is lovely, and the guest house is very clean. The shared bathroom is clean too, and there's a shared fridge and a little kitchen. The room was okay, with WiFi working properly, but it got noisy at night because it faces a busy street at the front of the building. It's near everything and a metro station, which is perfect. There isn't AC, so it gets really hot in summer.
We lovved it. The place was near the town center and old quarter, and everything was kept quite clean. For 35€ per night, we got a large room for 2 persons in this mid-cost budget lodging. The shower and kitchen were shared among all 6 rooms. There were antiques galore. The fridge was decent, but the kitchen lacked usable cooking pots and pans, and the laundry was out of commission at the time.
My stay was on the 4th floor, which had a good amount of space inside and a suitable room, plus two bathrooms and a shared kitchen. Guest House Balmes is in a good district and the building has floors. It's a little expensive, but the service was great.
Really nice place, with a clean room and friendly service that responded quickly. Just take care, some of the photos posted here don't correspond to this place!
