The Barcelona EDITION

That terrace was more than just a nice view. We had loungers and bougainvillea climbing the screens, so we actually spent time outside. The room looked over the rooftops, and the hotel’s central spot made most of the old city an easy walk away. The Barcelona EDITION feels design-led without having that chain-hotel feel. Service was sharp, and both the rooftop and the bar downstairs were genuinely good. If you can book a terrace room, do it. Worth every euro.

After a long drive from San Sebastián, we struggled to find the narrow street in the city traffic. Once we arrived, though, we had a fantastic night celebrating our 15 yr anniversary. The central location and excellent view from the rooftop bar helped make it special. Shaina at the front desk really went out of her way for us. She arranged a lovely anniversary dinner at the rooftop bar, and a colleague had left chocolates and balloons in our room. We were so pleased to find that setup when we got back. Her warm smile, thoughtfulness, and great service made the trip feel worth it on their own. She deserves recognition, and could manage the hotel if that's something she wants. We also got an incredible Amex room upgrade, with a huge marble bathtub and shower. Quite an experience!

Everyone we met, from the bellboy to the restaurant team, greeted us with a real smile each day. The staff made Barcelona feel like home, and the Gothic quarter is just across the street, with restaurants and museums close by. The restaurant staff made excellent cappuccinos and vegan-friendly meals. I can't recommend this hotel enough. We landed from Atlanta very early, before check-in, and the team at The Edition hotel stored our bags while we explored El Born and the Gothic quarter, visited the Como museum, and had lunch. Our corner room facing the tiled market was ready ahead of time. It had a very large bathtub, an equally huge shower, and automatic shades that moved much faster than our Hunter Douglas ones back in the US. Soon after we checked in, charcuterie and wine arrived as a nice surprise. We had dinner upstairs, where the rooftop views were insane. The day before checkout, the pastry chef sent sweet treats, and even housekeeping left us presents. They really went over the top. A special shout out to the front desk and concierge team, especially Yannick. They gave us great restaurant recommendations and got us reservations at places that are hard to get into. There was a convention on the day we flew to Madrid, so they suggested a private airport transfer because of possible delays. We had none, and the drive took just 20 minutes, but it was nice to ride in a Mercedes after our Uber driver had dropped us at the wrong airport location. Uber is easy to use, but based on our experience, I'd avoid it. The location and the people made this a wonderful stay. My only suggestion is better pillows and mattresses, though maybe that was just our fifth-floor corner room. It still checks so many boxes!

The rooms are lovely, though they could use more storage. Even so, the Edition is one of the best hotels we've stayed at, and we'd happily return. The service and attentiveness from the staff were exceptional, some of the best we've experienced. Highly recommend it.
