El Avenida Palace Hotel

The location is a real plus, and the staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and speak English well for guests who don't know Spanish or Catalan. Batea, the hotel's Michelin restaurant, is amazing. The rooms could use some updating, though. They're dark even in summer, and while the furniture is kept in good shape, it feels dated. The carpets might help with noise, but they could use an upgrade too. For the nightly price, I expected the place to feel a bit brighter.

We'd happily stay again next time we're in Barcelona. The breakfast that's included was very good, and the staff were welcoming and helpful. Our room was clean and spacious, too.

We got an upgrade to a lovely junior suite, with a sitting area looking out onto the main street. It was beautiful, and the double windows kept the room quiet. The two single beds pushed together were comfortable, though they had a habit of sliding apart. We arrived before check-in, so the staff took our bags and we went exploring. There were lots of restaurants, shops, and bars nearby, and when we came back the room was ready. It's a lovely hotel in a great part of Barcelona, and I'd really like to return.

We walked everywhere from this hotel's great location, and the free taxi from the airport was a welcome extra. We could also arrange a black car in advance for the return trip. Around the corner is probably the best tapas restaurant in Barcelona, if not close to it. The room was on the fourth floor facing the street, recently remodeled, clean and refreshed daily, and smelled wonderful. It was spacious for the three of us, including our small child, with a king bed and twin sofa bed. A privacy wall divided the sleeping areas, each with a big smart TV. The bathroom had sinks on both sides, a large waterfall shower, a full-size tub, and plenty of toiletries, robes, slippers, and oversized fluffy towels. There was also a modern safe. Gabriela, the manager, was especially helpful and shared lots of good food and attraction tips. She even offered us breakfast for a day so we could decide if we wanted it.
