Breakfast was one of the hotel’s biggest strengths. There was plenty of it, with choices for different diets. As vegans, we could have oat, almond, coconut rice, or soya milk, plus plant-based spread, peanut butter, bread, muesli, fruit, and soya yoghurt. The breakfast room was calm and pleasant. The staff were very kind and welcoming, helped us with late check-in using the self-service option, and left breakfast boxes for our early departure. They also recommended a good bike hire place and were always ready to help. Porxos Garden is superbly placed, about 10 minutes from both the Gothic Quarter and the beach. We were glad to be near vegan restaurants like Velada and vegan ice-cream parlours like CAJÚ. Despite the prime spot, the hotel was quiet and felt secure, with key card access at the front door and again for the area with rooms on the first second floor. It was also nice to stay in the building where Picasso first stayed when he came to Barcelona! Our room was modern, stylish, very clean, and had a comfortable bed. The air con worked really well during a hot August week without being too noisy, and the bathroom’s cascade shower had great pressure. There could have been a bit more space around the bed for suitcases, though we did book a standard room, so I imagine the more expensive rooms are bigger. The shared lounge was lovely, with free tea, coffee, and snacks, chic little tables, and cushioned seats. The roof garden looked nice too, but it was too hot for us to use. A table with a sun umbrella would let people enjoy the city and sea views in the shade. We’d definitely return and recommend Porxos to small groups, couples, and families with teenage and older children. Thanks for a great Barcelona stay!

There were snacks and drinks throughout the day, as well as a continental breakfast, which was a lovely touch. The hosts were hospitable and helpful, even arranging an earlier check-in and lending us an iron when we asked. The rooms were a good size, stylishly decorated, well equipped with everything we needed, and not old or shabby. For the location, service, cleanliness, room size, and quality, this place is great value, with a cosy atmosphere.

The location was so convenient, and the room felt chic for such a wonderful price. The shower was one of the best I’ve ever had, like standing under a waterfall. Thai was a delight and kept checking if we needed anything. She made us feel welcome right away. Having food and drinks out at all hours was a lovely bonus. We grabbed water late at night on both evenings. I’d highly recommend it.

There are lots of good restaurants within 100 m, and the B&B is within walking distance of plenty of attractions. It’s a small place, maybe a dozen rooms, in a historic building, which is fun in itself. One person provides full service from 8 to 8, including breakfast and concierge help, and food is available all day for a quick bite. A couple of things to know: it’s two floors up with no elevator, and you have to carry your bags up spiral stairs. The street-facing rooms get lots of light but also some traffic noise. I used earplugs, though I wear them for my spouse’s CPAP noise anyway, so it wasn’t a problem for me.

Room 1 can be noisy, especially if someone uses the microwave late at night or early in the morning and slams the door. The breakfast buffet was great, with fantastic coffee, and the rooftop garden is lovely and open until 4pm. The rooms are beautiful, with thoughtful decor throughout. The location’s great, about a 5 minute walk from Estacio de Frances and right across the road from the El Born District, which I love. Parc de la Ciutadella is 5-10 minutes away on foot, and the Arc de Triomf about 15 minutes. Trains from the Airport to Estacio de Frances take around half an hour and run about every half hour.
