Fira Guest House

The owner sends a young guy to collect an extra 5.5€ per person per night, calling it a tax and saying it's charged everywhere. Other hostels didn't ask us for anything extra. This is below-average, and it feels like they're cheating tourists. Be careful!

The place was musty and smelled of smoke, and the kitchen was disgusting, with things left in the sink and open food on the counter. I paid over 70EUR for one night, but to me it's worth closer to 30EUR. The apartment felt unsafe, though I was glad to leave after just one night. At 3 in the morning, some lunatic rang the intercom and woke me up. It frightened me badly, and I slept terribly afterwards. The room was warm and hard to breathe in. The area was also incredibly noisy, beside a major highway, so keeping the window open wasn't an option. Before that, the owner had contacted us through whatsapp to ask when we'd arrive, and we told him well ahead of time. But when we got to the building, nobody was there to check us in. I called him, heard some cursing, and he seemed confused about why I was calling. He arrived 15 minutes later and took us upstairs. Stay away if you can.

It's a converted apartment in a residential building, with a few rooms let out separately. Some have their own bathrooms. The room was clean enough, and a cleaner came every day, but as you'd expect, it's basic and has very few amenities. If you're going to the Fair in Barcelona, it's about a 20-minute walk.

Clean and hygienic, but that’s about where the positives end. Since it’s a guest house, there’s no early check-in or late checkout, and there’s no attached bathroom. You end up having to compromise on a lot, especially as a couple or family. For what they charge, it doesn’t feel worth it, and there are much better alternatives at this price.
