HCC Regente Hotel

The room was clean and the staff were incredibly friendly. They also made my boyfriend’s birthday surprise go perfectly, so thanks to the team. The location is excellent. We did get a room with a window looking straight at a wall, and the rooms don’t all seem to match the online pictures, so you need a bit of luck. Sound carries too: at night we could hear people in the hallway and doors closing. I wasn’t able to pick a specific room category when booking. Whether I’d return depends on whether I can get a room with a balcony.

The room could have used brighter lighting, and it would have been nice to have streaming options such as Netflix or channels in English. Otherwise, we had a great stay. The hotel is very central for good restaurants and shopping, and the staff were helpful. They had trouble understanding our English accent, but we managed with a translation app.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel was clean and well located. But our room was extremely disappointing: it was tiny, with a window facing a wall and no real view or sense of daylight. There was also a very unpleasant smell from the bathroom that spread into the bedroom as soon as we entered. On top of that, loud noise and someone crying around 5:00-5:30 each morning kept waking us up and badly disrupted our sleep. The hotel itself seems nice, but the room and early morning disturbance made the stay a letdown.

I really enjoyed sitting on the rooftop and looking out over the city, with either coffee or their very good Sangria. I only wish the terrace opened before 11 so I could have had my morning coffee up there. The room had no view, which I suppose is expected in central Barcelona, and it made me want to spend more time outside for daylight. The staff were cheerful and very helpful, our room was nice and clean, and breakfast offered lots of fresh choices. A little music in the breakfast area would make it cozier. Still, I loved my stay and would definitely recommend this central, pleasant hotel.
