Poblenou is a cool, more local-feeling area near the beach, and the metro is close by, which made getting around easy. My partner and I came for his work trip, even though I don’t usually stay in hotels, and this Holiday Inn Express was better than I expected. The staff were kind, friendly, and helpful, and the rooms were clean with nice facilities. The complimentary breakfast was high quality, much better than what I’m used to in the US. A great week and a really good experience.

Fasar and Carlos made my solo stay the best it could be. This was a last-minute booking that turned out wonderfully. Fasar gave me a map and pointed out places to visit and eat, and Liliana told me where the nearest Mercado was. Thank you, Liliana. I’ll review that separately. Highly recommend this hotel. The location is easily the best in town. If you’re used to Holiday Inn Express in the US, you’ll love the vibe here and won’t be let down. It was January, so bring a coat, scarf, and maybe a winter hat. The days were comfortable, but nights were cool. AH! Fasar, tú eres la mejor! You are the best.

The front desk staff were very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is one block from the Hop on Hop off bus and a grocery store where I could pick up water and some nice ready-made meals for a quick bite after sightseeing all day. The wood floors seemed to have been dry-mopped only. My feet got filthy just walking around the room and getting up to use the restroom.
10/10
The room had plenty of space and was very comfortable for three adults. The sofa bed meant my mom could join my husband and me before our cruise, and the USB ports plus a universal outlet let us charge our devices, including a US plug. Even the safe had USB and a universal outlet for charging. It all felt very modern and clean, and having free breakfast each morning was wonderful. We had the most wonderful Barcelona stay at Holiday Inn Express Barcelona City 22@ in early October 2025. It made our pre-cruise trip the best it could be, and I’d definitely pick it again if we return to Barcelona. Five stars for the room, breakfast, device-friendly setup, and location!
8/10
The hotel includes complimentary breakfast, which is getting harder to find, and costs a little less than many places closer to central Barcelona. It’s conveniently placed within 15 minutes of the cruise port and about 10 minutes from the main tourist areas. There are lots of local tapas-style restaurants nearby, and a short drive gets you to the local amenities.
