Hostal Lausanne

The location made it easy to get around Barcelona. We walked everywhere, and the nearby bus services were excellent too. We enjoyed exploring Las Ramblas and the Gothic Quarter, and getting to other sights on foot was easy. We’d love to return and would recommend it for a budget break like ours. Our room was cosy and very clean, with comfortable beds, and they made the bed every day. It wasn’t large and only had basic facilities besides the en suite and a telly. There was no hairdryer or kettle, but we knew that in advance. We felt very safe: the place is staffed around the clock, and there are two security points, so only guests can get in.

The main drawback was how thin the walls are inside the hostel. We could hear everything our neighbours were doing. We didn’t hear street noise in our room, though, even though the hostel is on a busy street. The shared bathrooms were always clean, and our room was cleaned daily. The staff were friendly and happy to answer our questions. The location near Plaça Catalunya was great for walking to the main sights or taking the bus or metro. We were very satisfied with our stay, and I’d recommend it to other travellers on a limited budget.

My apartment faced the light well between buildings, which kept things quiet. Some people might enjoy nighttime noise, but I like to sleep in silence, and this suited me. The location is right in the city centre, near the old bank and the Gothic quarter.

We stayed for five nights, and with this location and price, I’d consider it again. The hotel was about what we expected for the cost, and the rooms were clean enough. We didn’t hear street noise after 10-11 pm, but the thin walls meant sounds from other rooms carried. The location was awesome.
