Hotel Del Mar

We asked to switch rooms after the first night because ours faced the main street and the restaurants below. The change was handled smoothly, and the new room was much better. Reception staff were kind throughout our stay and helped with everything we needed. The hotel is a little dated, but that wasn’t one of our requirements. For the price, location, rooms, and service together, the value is hard to beat. I’d consider staying here again.

The breakfast was the best I’ve seen at a hotel, and public transport is right outside the door. It’s a busy area, but there was barely any noise from outside. I did hear some people in the hallway. The room seemed clean and was fine, though the beds weren’t comfortable. The balcony was super cute.

That balcony was enormous, much bigger than the room, and would’ve been lovely if we’d stayed longer. The location also made it easy to walk to the beaches, the Port Cable Car, and the Gothic Quarter. The younger man at the front desk was friendly and helpful, though I’m sorry I’ve forgotten his name. A few things didn’t work well for me: the shower head wouldn’t stay in its holder, the shower didn’t drain, and the sink had no counter space around it. The bed was extremely firm, too firm for me to sleep well. We couldn’t figure out the TV either. Still, the hotel itself was nice.

The room was very clean and roomy, and the balcony caught the lovely morning sun. We had flat pillows and a faulty shower head, but nothing else to complain about. Reception were especially helpful and always available when we needed information. It’s about a five-minute walk to the Old Town, with lots of tapas places, tempting pastry cafes, and shops. The hotel is also right next door to the great restaurant 7 Portes. We’d happily stay here again.
