Hotel Indigo Barcelona Plaza Espana by IHG

There’s a nice bar and restaurant in the hotel, though we also found plenty of cheaper places nearby for lunch and dinner. It’s a good base for exploring, with the metro close by. The staff were friendly and the rooms were clean, with sockets beside the bed and Chromecast on the TV. They’re generally small, though. We couldn’t leave a suitcase open anywhere except on the bed.

Breakfast was delicious, with lots of variety and some extra items made just for us. The room’s high-quality coffee machine was another thoughtful detail. The hotel itself felt warm, cozy, and distinctively designed, which made the stay feel special. It’s also only a few minutes on foot from the city’s main amenities, so it was easy to get around.

It’s a pet-friendly hotel, and they provided my dog with a really comfortable bed and a bowl. Breakfast was a nice combination of buffet and menu choices. The location worked well, with lots of restaurants and shops nearby and easy metro and airport connections. I love this place and would stay again. My one complaint was about checkout. I’d been given a late checkout until 13:30 so I could finish business calls, but the hotel kept calling to ask when I’d be leaving. The interruptions made me give up and find somewhere else to work.

I’d happily stay again. The hot and cold water setup at the sink and shower was confusing, but Bianca at the front desk made a real impression. She was there when I arrived and when I left. While taking my check-in details, she noticed my birthday was the next day, wished me well, and gave me a coupon for a free drink and dessert at the restaurant. The following morning, on my actual birthday, she remembered and wished me a happy birthday again. That kind of thoughtful service is rare, and I was thoroughly impressed.
