Limonaia Hotel

The hotel's in a superb area, the staff are good, and the rooms are cleaned daily. I've stayed here in both summer and winter, though the air conditioning doesn't work very well and the heating doesn't work at all. Room quality varies too. In mine, the balcony door only opened if pushed, and anyone could open it.

There are lots of good food options nearby, and the hotel is surrounded by top brand shops in Barcelona's Eixample area. The train station is less than 100 fts away, with links to major attractions such as Sargada Familia and Gothic quarter. Our room was great, but it was very hot and we couldn't control the temperature. Opening the windows was the only way to cool it, and it was very cold outside, which wasn't ideal with our small kids.

The main issue was sound coming from inside the hotel. We could hear people in nearby rooms and corridors, even just walking around. It wasn't a problem in the daytime, but the noise at night and early in the morning wasn't great. If you're sensitive to noise, that's something to consider. Otherwise, Hotel Limonaia is well located and well run, the staff gave exceptional service, and I appreciated their help with various things. The soundproofing was fine against outside noise. I'd certainly consider coming back.

I expected more after reading the good reviews, but the stay was a letdown. There was barely room to move around, and when we brought up our concerns, the staff weren't helpful. The coffee machine, kettle, and slippers listed among the amenities weren't there either. At 5 AM I called reception for water and was told I’d have to go outside and buy some myself. For the price, I found the hotel overrated and the service poor, and I wouldn’t recommend it.
