Hotel Salles Pere IV Hotel

The location worked well for us: a creative office area with cute restaurants, the nearest metro just 2 minutes away, and the beach a 15 minute walk. We booked through Hotels.com and got a free bottle of wine too. Housekeeping was consistent, and I liked the hallway separating the bathroom from the bedroom. The spa was a great amenity and the rooftop bar has a lovely city view. The room quality was a bit underwhelming, though. The finishes felt cheap, and the throw pillows smelled like they hadn't ever been washed.

Breakfast was a real treat, and the rooftop bar has stunning views over Barcelona. The hotel is a short distance from the Metro, and taxis were easy to get. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and extremely clean, with a beautiful, well appointed bathroom. The whole hotel was remarkably clean, among the cleanest I've stayed in Spain. There was some work going on in reception when we arrived. It was a little noisy, but the workers were respectful and kept the mess to a minimum, so it wasn't a big deal. I can't say enough good things about the staff. We'd absolutely stay again.

Breakfast was good, with decent options that stayed consistent, and the hotel's close to the metro, so getting around was easy. But the room was disappointing: damaged floor tiles, scratched furniture, and very thin bedding that left us cold at night. We barely got any basic hospitality from staff. No greetings or acknowledgment in the hallways, and hardly any interaction at all. Each morning around 8 AM, housekeeping gathered just steps from our third-floor room and talked loudly about gossip and assignments. It made it hard to rest, and having the station so close to guest rooms felt inappropriate. The towel situation was awful. Soon after we arrived, my mom showered and then noticed the towels were visibly stained with what looked like bodily fluids that weren't hers. The unused towel was stained too, so she had to shower again. We told housekeeping the next day. Laura was kind and brought clean replacements, but even one of those, the bath mat, was stained. I have photos. The spa was another letdown. We arrived at 7:30 PM, even though closing time was listed as 9 PM, and the bald male staff member at the front seemed visibly annoyed, repeatedly checking the clock as if we were inconveniencing him. We weren't given towels at first; when we asked, the response felt reluctant. The floors were soaking wet, and no one seemed to be managing or cleaning the space. When we asked to swap our soaked towels, the female attendant with brown hair and bangs responded with attitude, even though we offered to return the used ones. We said thank you as we left, but neither of the two workers responded. We didn't return or book the treatments we'd planned to. The spa pool is cold, and the chromotherapy room doesn't work. Check-in itself was easy and smooth after our late arrival, but the cleanliness problems, lack of hospitality, and spa experience made the stay disappointing. I wouldn't choose this hotel again.

The kids' spa hours weren't clear when booking. We were told children could only use it for 3 h a day. I also paid an extra 120 euro for a massage for 2, but that included only one 20 min massage. And the restaurant near reception doesn't offer a kids' menu for a 9 year old, only for children up to 8. Never coming back or recommending this hotel 🤣
