Sansi Barcelona Hotel

The location and friendly staff get one star from me. Apart from those, this hotel is a huge no. It wasn't clean at all. When they “cleaned” the room, they only made the bed and took out the rubbish. They didn't change the sheets or clean the bathroom. The bathroom smelled strongly of old sewers, and because the glass door doesn't fully separate it from the room, the whole room smelled awful. There's no phone in the room, so if you have a question or need something, you have to go down to reception. The old lift is incredibly slow. There are also no do-not-disturb signs. There's only a tiny button on the door handle that changes colour, but nobody told me about it or pointed it out. The cleaner knocked every day and opened the door without waiting for an answer. That felt very inappropriate and violated my privacy. I didn't even have time to get dressed properly. The hotel is full of religious paintings and writing, which I think is Catholic, and there's a Bible in the room instead of a simple phone. No disrespect to any religion, but I don't think it has to be part of a hotel's design. It felt creepy and gave me cult vibes, especially since this isn't even a historic religious location that draws visitors. I want to come back to the cleaning because it upset me so much. I don't even think they change the sheets between guests. You can see the yellow colour of the pillows through the sheets, and they look dirty, old and badly used. The bathroom is old and disgusting, with scratches and mould everywhere. They just put out L’Occitane products to distract you, lol. This hotel will never be four stars. It's barely one. I deeply regret not reading the reviews before booking.

The staff were friendly, but not helpful. With 20 degrees outside, the AC in our room wasn't working and the room was too warm. When I complained, they said the temperature was the same throughout the hotel whatever setting you chose, since they were on the “winter” schedule. I didn't sleep for any of our three nights. The room smelled like the toilet or washbasin was clogged. We told reception, but they said there was nothing they could do and that it was just “how the hotel smelled”. I wouldn't recommend it.

The room was much smaller than the photos on Opodo showed, so it didn't meet what we expected when booking. The AC wasn't working either, which made the room extremely uncomfortable in the heat. We also found ants in the room, raising concerns about cleanliness and maintenance. Water was provided only on the first day and never replenished, which should be standard for a hotel stay. I recently stayed at Sansi Barcelona and was disappointed. The experience didn't match the value or expectations set during booking, and I hope the hotel fixes these issues for future guests.

The room had no windows, which is an immediate no for me. It felt like a dungeon, and you couldn't tell whether it was day or night. The bathroom worked poorly, there was no proper door between it and the room, and there was some periodic noise, possibly from the metro underneath. There were also a few insects. How can a windowless hotel get four stars? That should be an immediate disqualification.
