Mayerling Schumann

The host was very kind and arranged a late check-in, and the room felt cozy. The location also made it easy to visit the whole city, from Sagrada to the Gothic area. The sofa wasn’t comfortable as a bed, though, so I didn’t sleep very well.

If I return to Barcelona, I’ll book your hotel again without hesitation 👌👌

Be very careful when booking Mayerling Schumann Barcelona, or any of the Mayerling hotels. I’d made a reservation a year ahead for Primavera Sound, but about 20 days before arrival it was canceled after the dates had been changed, and nobody notified me. I only found out on the day I was due to arrive. It seems prices had gone up a lot since I booked, perhaps even tripled because of events such as Primavera Sound and the Pope’s visit. The hotel canceled my reservation without warning, leaving me scrambling for a place in Barcelona at the last minute, and I couldn’t attend the festival. Booking.com confirmed that the hotel had canceled it. They moved me to another apartment, noted the incident and the harm it caused, and applied their security protocol for this chain. Booking.com’s service was excellent. I’m going to report the hotel for fraud. Be very careful with this chain.

I loved the view from the balcony at dusk: the street, tree shade, big trash cans, and busy crowds brought back my earliest memories of Barcelona. The apartment itself was spacious and good value, with a kitchen, air conditioning, hairdryer, and two bathrooms. I was so busy enjoying the city that I didn’t have the time or energy to use everything. I just wish there had been a washing machine; then I’d have given it a perfect score. The reception and apartment buildings are about a 3-minute walk apart. The apartment building is quite old, and there’s a musty smell when you open its big, heavy ground-floor door, though it goes away once you’re inside the room.
