Midtown Luxury Apartments

Great place for a group, with a large kitchen-diner, a small lounge, and six spacious en-suite bedrooms. The location was great too. I'd highly recommend it.

We'd booked through Booking for a three-day family holiday and had paid in full and sent our personal details ahead of time. We were looking forward to the trip, but they cancelled our reservation just 20 hours before we were due to arrive. They gave no clear reason and didn't help us find somewhere else to stay. I tried calling the support number, but nobody ever answered. This was unacceptable. Think twice before booking.

The apartment itself was gorgeous, though one of the beds was horrific. We had a baby with us who needed a place to sleep, and ended up paying 130 euros for a hotel room when we couldn't get into the apartment on time. I still wonder what they'll offer to resolve things beyond the first-night discount, which they increased to 50%. Check-in was officially at 3PM, but by 3:30 I hadn't received the promised message saying the apartment was ready. I asked, and they replied that we could collect the key. At the rental office, however, they said it wasn't there because the apartment wasn't ready. At 4:15, I got a call confirming the delay. I asked if our baby could at least come in to sleep, but they said no and apologized. When I asked what they could do, they offered 20% off the first night, which wasn't a solution. They said it would take another 1,5 hours. We finally got a message to collect the key at 5:15 pm. I'm giving two out of five stars: one for the beautiful apartment and location, and one for the good service we sometimes had. Things were good until we arrived.

We were very disappointed. The photos promised a Wow factor that the rooms didn't deliver, and our holiday was ruined. We booked for 8 people and were given three rooms plus a sofa bed, which we would've accepted if it had been big enough. On arrival, the owner wouldn't let us open it while he was there. We later found out it only fit one child or a very small adult. Three people had to share one double bed, and another slept on the sofa without pulling it out. One sheet had a lot of blood on it, so we used a sofa throw as a blanket. The manager's response when we reported it was unhelpful. We'd been promised a chance to speak with the owner at checkout, but the manager avoided us, and no alternative was offered during our three-night stay. The fire alarm beeped for all three days and nights because its battery was failing, and we also found several cockroaches. We informed them about the alarm, but our repeated calls to the "emergency" number and our emails went unanswered.
