Nouvel Hotel

Getting around on foot was easy, and it felt safe enough, but the room and bathroom were both tiny. The heater worked fine; the AC didn't. At night, noise from people in the corridor kept waking us. We asked reception if we could move, but they said all the rooms had the same problem and changing wouldn't help. We were only there for three nights, though they felt like the longest nights.

The room was so hot in March that I had to sleep with the window open. It also needs a full renovation, with little things and basic functions missing. Breakfast was below average, and for the price, it wasn't worth it.

The room itself was spacious and did the job, and the location was convenient. But the walls were so thin that we could hear everything, including people returning around 2 a.m., so sleep was impossible. Check-in was unpleasant too: a bald man at reception was rude, condescending, and passive-aggressive. He called our room to accuse us of smoking. I explained several times that I'd just had a hot shower, but he wouldn't believe me and kept being accusatory and unfair. I can't complain about the location, but the staff interactions left me unimpressed.

I trusted the property with a confirmed reservation because I needed the booking documents for my visa application, and the repeated cancellations caused serious problems. My first reservation, through Hotels.com, was cancelled by the hotel. I then booked through Booking.com, and that one was cancelled too, without a valid explanation. The hotel said the cards were invalid, even though both are active, valid cards that I use regularly, and both have processed successful transactions even today. The booking information said the card details were only needed as a guarantee and no charge would be taken, so I don't understand that claim. After the first cancellation I had to attach new booking confirmations for the embassy; the second one directly affected my visa process and caused stress, inconvenience, and possible financial loss. This was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. I want a clear written explanation for the cancellations and the incorrect statement about my cards.
