Sunotel Aston

I was there for a few nights in mid-May. The hotel sits in a fairly quiet residential area near Hospital Clinic station, and the room was a decent size by European standards. The breakfast was quite good, especially since there aren’t many options nearby. They also offer free bikes to borrow, but I didn’t use one. There were a couple of room issues. The washroom door wouldn’t close, and the shower wasn’t enclosed, so water leaked onto the floor and the door gradually soaked it up. I also noticed the in-room fridge was on but wouldn’t get cold.

Breakfast was the best part of our few days here. It was a varied buffet, and the kitchen staff were so accommodating. Melody was especially friendly and always went out of her way to answer questions and suggest her favourite dishes. She greeted everyone with a positive attitude and really made us feel welcome. Our room, though, was boiling when we arrived, and the phone to reception didn’t work. We told the receptionist, who said someone would come fix it, but nobody did. He said the only fix for the heating was to turn off the temperature and open the window. With all the traffic noise outside, that wasn’t much of a solution. It was disappointing. At least the shower was good, and we appreciated having a TV.

We found the location ideal for seeing Barcelona’s sights. Hospital Clinic metro station was a quick walk away, and the quiet area had nice cafes and convenience shops close by. The rooftop pool was lovely in the evening. We stayed four nights at Sunotel Aston and were very happy with the hotel. Our double room with a view was a good size, and the bed was comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout. We’d definitely recommend staying here.

The room upgrade was a lovely surprise and made a real difference. A big thank you to Princess for being so warm and helping us during our stay. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, and we had a comfortable, easy visit. We’d happily come back.
