Regencia Colón Hotel

The rooms were well kept and the staff were friendly. The hotel is a little dated, but that didn't bother me much. Its location is great. The big problem was no air conditioning in the rooms. In summer heat it became a real issue, though outside the summer months this would be a fantastic hotel. Other than that, it was great.

The location is perfect and the hotel is very affordable compared with others nearby. The staff are really friendly and speak great English, if that matters to you. But I wouldn't personally recommend it because I'm a light sleeper. I only managed a couple of hours of sleep with the noise and the room temperature. The walls are thin, and street noise was louder than I like. I don't sleep well in a warm room, and in this older hotel you can't set your room's temperature separately from the rest of the hotel. I found the whole place a bit warm for my comfort. I also thought the bedding was poor. The rooms are somewhat dated.

The staff were very sweet and attentive, and the hotel was clean, tidy and well located. But the room insulation was horrible, and we could hear everything next door. The beds kept sliding down whenever we sat up to watch TV, and they don't provide shampoo. Breakfast was lacking a bit, perhaps some eggs or pastries would help. I hope they renovate soon, as we'd be glad to come back.

We stayed for two nights and liked the location, close to the Gothic Quarter and its sights and restaurants. The outside noise at night was noticeable because the hotel is near all the activity. It didn't bother us, though it could bother some people. Our room was modest in size, clean and comfortable, but the bed felt a little hard. There's a basic continental breakfast by the lobby. The selection wasn't large, but it was enough to fuel up before heading out. Staff were friendly and helpful, and we'd definitely stay here again.
