The biggest concern came three days after checkout, when someone tried to charge my credit card even though I'd already been told the authorization was released. It caused unnecessary stress and inconvenience, and damaged my trust in the hotel. Billing should be transparent and reliable, so guests should keep a close eye on their card statements after their stay. The rooms were very small and less comfortable than we expected. The manager was the one person who made a positive impression: professional, attentive and genuinely ready to help. Most problems only got resolved once she stepped in herself. We were travelling with a baby, but the rest of the staff did little to help us feel more comfortable and were generally unprofessional and unhelpful, with poor basic customer service. Breakfast was average at best, with limited choice. Even a simple request like an omelet took an unusually long time. Day-to-day operations seemed weak, leaving the manager to deal with problems the team should have handled. She deserves credit for her efforts, but the overall experience was below expectations, and I wouldn't stay here again.

The family room worked well for four, and the staff were very friendly overall. The hotel restaurant and bar were good, and the location is great. It is expensive, though. They offer coupons for a “free drink on us” at the bar, but only after ordering and paying do you find out they're limited to a particular drink. The bathroom could use more counter space.

Apart from one awful guest, the hotel was quiet at night. A fellow American woman took a half-hour call on speaker in the hallway outside our room at 4 am, squealing about a job offer. She seemed self-absorbed and oblivious, and I don't think she deserved it! We appreciated the nice treat for our 30th anniversary and used our free drinks at the hotel bar after a long day at Montserrat. The mattress was comfortable and the AC worked well. The shower temperature fluctuated a couple of times, perhaps when lots of guests were showering, but it wasn't terrible. Old buildings have their quirks. The elevator sometimes smelled, as other reviewers mentioned, but it didn't bother us, and our room smelled great. The hotel was well located, nicely updated and quiet aside from that disturbance. We enjoyed the balcony view and the nearby market for snacks. The Nespresso machine, which we used every morning, plus the robe and slippers, felt luxurious. I read every Barcelona hotel review in our price range until I went crazy and finally picked one. My obsessiveness paid off.

I took a star off for the room because it was small, though the bed was very comfortable, clean, and I slept really well. The washroom was clean too. The location is highly recommended, right in the shopping area, with Zara on the main street just outside the hotel. The food was fresh, and the servers were friendly and helpful.

Alba and Elias made our Barcelona stay feel special. They were so welcoming and helpful. I came with my mom, and we had a wonderful time. The hotel is also in a great spot, with shops and tourist attractions easy to reach. We’d definitely recommend it and come back.
