The reception team were always polite and helpful, and the place itself was nice, clean, adequate, and reasonably priced with the researcher discount. I stayed three nights while in Barcelona for research and accommodation. Still, I felt uneasy about the area at night, especially in the dark early morning hours. Reception told me it was safe, but I wasn’t comfortable, so when I had to go out around 7, I decided I should call an Uber or taxi. One morning I woke to a man outside my window shouting “police” as he chased someone. It seemed clear to me that the person running had stolen something. Watching it from the window was a bit traumatic. Tourists tend to keep their money close, and losing something expensive like a phone would be a real problem. Given that, it may be worth spending an extra 20-30 euros to stay in a safer area.

I felt the area was safe enough for a big city. It’s a multicultural neighborhood, and although I heard an argument down the street one night, that could happen anywhere and wasn’t the Residence’s fault. I had a pleasant 10-night stay. There were restaurants, takeaways, and bakeries just a few minutes away on foot, and the nearest metro was under an 8-minute walk. Checking in online beforehand meant I got my key card as soon as I arrived. My room and private bathroom were spacious enough for one person and spotlessly clean, with housekeeping every day. The Wi-Fi was steady and strong, and the receptionists were kind and friendly. I’ll definitely come back.

The staff were very friendly, breakfast was good, and everything was spotless. My room looked out over the neighboring university building and was really quiet, thanks to new windows and blinds that almost completely blocked the light. The internet was incredibly fast. I’d absolutely recommend it!

It’s clean, cheap, and nice, so I don’t understand why people hate it. The entrance is really bad, but otherwise it’s okay. You can check in early to leave your bags at reception, though they won’t let you into the room before 14:00. I got there exhausted at 9 and had to wait until 14:00 to shower and go to bed, which left a bad impression.

The hotel would deserve five stars otherwise. I stayed seven nights and found the rooms clean and spacious, breakfast nice, the location excellent, and the price good. The male receptionists were kind, efficient, and spoke English well. But one of the women at reception really spoiled my last night. I spent 15 minutes explaining that I needed a taxi at 5 a.m. to a metro station connected to the airport train. She seemed offended that I didn’t speak Spanish. At first she thought I wanted a taxi to the airport; after I tried explaining the destination three times, she said she’d tell the driver exactly where I wanted to go. She didn’t say what language I’d use with the driver. They should check their staff more carefully.
