Residencia Onix

We signed an agreement for a particular room type at one price. A week before we arrived, they told us that room wasn't available and offered only a room that cost $200 more per month. It was take it or leave it, and we had no choice. I still don't know if it was an upgrade or if they just gouged us on rent. It was impossible to tell. We also had a bait and switch. They returned only part of it, with no explanation or documentation, so we lost hundreds of dollars. Before that, we'd already been waiting a month and were having a lot of trouble getting the deposit back. If you stay here, plan on losing money. They're terrible communicators, unresponsive, and shady.

Marc and Sandra, especially Sandra, were patient and understanding when my daughter moved in on Monday and we were so unhappy with the room. They reassured us, and Sandra got things sorted within two days. My daughter is already very happy and settling in well. The customer service from both of them was outstanding, and they're a real credit to your business. Thank you, Marc, and thank you, Sandra, for reassuring me.

The room had damaged walls, and they charged me for them after I left. It also had machine noise going 24/7. They make you sign the whole contract in Spanish with unfair conditions. If your rent is one day late, they add a charge. They return your deposit whenever they feel like it. In my case it took about three months. They're thieves.

I stayed at Onix Resi for the 2024-25 academic year, and came away with mixed feelings. The central location is well connected, the website is easy to use, and the staff working in onix are really friendly. On the downside, it's overpriced by the month compared with Barcelona's private market, where you can find fancy alternatives for less. There aren't many social activities, the gym needs serious renovation, and the apartment has a mini-fridge. Some ratings seem swayed by washing tokens, and I rarely ended up using the pool. Whether I'd recommend it depends on your personal and financial situation.
