Sant Jordi Hostels Rock Palace

If you're here to explore the city, you might be better off booking somewhere else. This hostel suits people who want to party. The room had eight beds and no ventilation, and people smoked on the deck right beside it. We complained several times over our four days, but the only response was a note put up in the room after all that. People came back around 2 a.m. and didn't seem to care about waking anyone. The hostel was very clean, with a good mattress and pillow. The kitchen is tiny, though, and gets so crowded that you need to come before 8 p.m. if you want to cook. Staff were okay, but nobody explained how the facilities worked.

Reception staff were kind, and the hostel had plenty of facilities and cooking equipment. It's about ten minutes from the train station, though not especially close to the main attractions. The bed itself was clean, but I wouldn't stay in a mixed dorm again. This place has the feel of a late-night party hostel for people in their early twenties, with little peace and quiet. My roommates left things on the floor and even on my bed and pillow. People also smoked cigarettes and weed on the dorm balcony despite the ban, and the smell hung around all evening and night. Even with an 11 p.m. curfew, people came in talking loudly at 2 or 3 a.m. and woke us up. The small room was hot, even in April, with no ventilation, little room to move, and no bed curtains for privacy. The kitchen is shared with staff, so it was cramped when we tried to cook while they made dinner, and breakfast had the same problem.

I've stayed here twice and I'm coming back this summer. It's such a good hostel for solo travelers: the staff are friendly and helpful, the activities are fun, and it's easy to meet people. Big shout out to Bambu. The location feels safe and works really well, with buses, the subway, and cafes close by. You can walk to places like the Sagrada too. There's a free room locker big enough for a backpack and a 10 kg suitcase. The rooftop pool is nice for cooling off, though I think they have to close it at 9 p.m. I don't mind much since I usually join the pub crawl. Bathrooms are generally clean, but sometimes there's a sewer smell or someone's left a mess, so please clean up after yourself. My only real complaint is that the beds don't have curtains. All in all, an incredible hostel that I recommend.

The facilities were clean and great, and everyone on the hostel team was kind. As a solo traveler, I made new friends in the living room on my very first day. Staying here made me not want to leave Barcelona. I'd definitely recommend it!
