SmartRoom Barcelona

The location is excellent, close to a bakery and the metro, in a safe area with friendly people. The place was small but clean, with decent blankets and a kettle, which was a plus. No view and no breakfast.

The free juice for following them on Instagram was a nice perk, and they let us leave our bags in lockers after checkout. The room had what we needed for a couple of nights: a comfortable bed, decent AC, a warm shower, and a safe. It's a budget place, so the room and bathroom are small, and there's no conditioner in the shower. We had no trouble with the safe and never felt our things were at risk, despite what some other reviews said. The main letdown was housekeeping. We asked for the room to be cleaned before the stated cutoff, but came back to the same mess and towels still on the floor. They did give me fresh towels when I asked. The payment setup also felt odd: I entered my card on the website, then got another email with a payment link. I wasn't comfortable using that link, so we waited and paid in person. Our room faced the road, and passing cars were loud. Earplugs might help. It's probably hard to avoid that in Barcelona.

The rooms were clean and the staff were friendly. It's a good value for Barcelona, in a pleasant, safe area a little outside the centre. The metro is about a six-minute walk away, so getting around the city is easy.

I felt welcome right away, thanks to the really friendly, helpful staff. The room was spotless, simple, and comfortable, and the whole place had a calm, modern feel. I also liked the little extras: apples at reception, iPads and a water fountain in the Relax Room, plus the fun Instagram promotions. The location worked well too. I'd happily stay again and recommend it.
