The apartment we were given wasn't even the one we'd booked. In the bathroom, the walls were rotten and the tiles were so loose I could pull them off with a finger. Shower water ran into the wall instead of the drain, and we kept worrying we might fall through into the apartment below. There was black mold on the walls. The hairdryer didn't work and there was no notice about it. When I tried it, it clogged up. The staircase was too narrow, and the lift stopped between floors. People coming back from clubbing had parties in the apartment above every night at three in the morning. This place is completely unsuitable and not worth even a third of what the owner is asking.

There are plenty of bars, cafes, and supermarkets nearby. The apartment had a double bedroom, a single room, and a separate lounge, and it was well equipped. Its little washing machine was a big help in sweaty Barcelona. The Sagrada is about a 15-minute walk away, and the old port is around 30 minutes on foot via the cathedral. People coming up the stairs make some noise, but it's generally quiet. Most of the small apartments are up three or five very steep, narrow stairs, so say yes when the lovely staff offer to carry your luggage. My comments are affected by the very high price for our small suite. I'm not sure if that's typical for Barcelona or if the America's cup regatta had an effect.

The staff are very nice, but they can't fix the apartment problems. We had no dishwasher, trouble getting warm water, and very little space. For the same price, this is what you may get if you don't get the renovated apartment shown in the promotional photos. Be careful when booking, since you might not get what you expect. The apartments we got were significantly overpriced.

We had a great time, and the place was nice with really helpful staff. One annoying thing was the stairs. We were on the 4th floor, which made them tiring, and two adults could barely pass each other. I'd recommend staying here.
