Hotel Suizo

We had a corner room on the third floor overlooking the lively streets, and even caught fireworks from the window on our second night. That was beautiful and romantic. The staff were accommodating too. They let us leave our bags when we arrived early, so we could head out to the Gothic Quarter without a fuss. The location made everything easy. The train station is right across the street, and shops, restaurants, a laundromat, and a grocery store are just steps away. After a few nights here, we'd say it's the best mid-range hotel we've stayed at in Europe so far. Barcelona has such a happy, vibrant feel, and Hotel Suizo was a great base for enjoying the city.

The location is fantastic, close to shops, restaurants, and sights. I liked the little balcony, but I wouldn't stay here again. My standard room was so small it was uncomfortable to share with my companion, and the mini fridge was extra tiny, almost like a toy. There are no full-length mirrors, which matters to me, and no magnifying mirror in the bathroom. The walls are thin enough that you can easily hear what's happening in nearby rooms. I'd only recommend it if you're a hobbit.

The breakfast was amazing, and Barri Gòtic was a nice area to wander, with lots of cozy cafes and shops to discover. We were out exploring most of the time, so the small rooms weren't really a problem for us. Our first room had a slight sewage smell in the bathroom. We told the staff and they quickly offered to move us, so it was sorted fast. Outside noise could get a bit loud, though that's to be expected in a city as big as Barcelona. We stayed three nights and had a pretty good experience at Hotel Suizo.

The neighborhood was lively, busy, and felt extremely safe. The metro is about 10m from the hotel, and with such a handy location you can save a lot of time and money. Staff were very nice and helpful, and breakfast was excellent. I'd love to come back!
