Sweet BCN Traveller House

The staff were super nice and helpful, and the neighborhood felt safe and clean. The hostel itself was comfortable, pretty, and peaceful. It’s easy to reach different parts of Barcelona on foot, by metro, or by bus. There’s a kitchen if you want to cook, and lots of nearby bars too, including one that’s 100% vegan.

The hostel has a vintage feel and a nice atmosphere for meeting new people. The staff were helpful and kind, and the bed was clean, though the design wasn’t great: on some beds the mattress is so thick you can’t sit upright. On the other hand, it’s really soft and good for sleeping. Most things looked clean, but there was a strange smell in the shared area.

Everyone at Sweet BCN was kind and wanted to make sure we had a good stay. On our last day they even kept our bags at the Youth hostel and let us use the bathroom there. They also suggested good restaurants and breakfast spots, including coffee 365, where coffee and a croissant cost 2.5 euros, which helped us stick to a budget. The whole place, bathrooms included, was always very clean. The shared bathroom wasn’t a problem at all: there were four bathrooms for eight rooms, so we could always find an available one. They had shampoo, soap, and a nice shower. The bed was soft and comfortable, and the air conditioning was great in summer. There’s also a full kitchen if you’d rather cook or eat there. The location is great, on the corner of a subway stop that connects to the main tourist attractions. You can also walk to Sagrada Família, Casa Bartlo, La Pedrera, and Plaza Cataluna. The only issue was the doors: they made noise when shut, and since our room was near the entrance, we could hear people coming and going in the middle of the night. I’d definitely recommend the place despite that.

The room itself wasn’t bad, but it was extremely noisy. People were talking loudly in the kitchen at 2am, and the toilet flush sounded as if it were inside the room. On the second night, someone checked in at 23:30 while I was trying to sleep, and it sounded like they were in my room. Even the man working there didn’t seem concerned about keeping things quiet that late. I booked a private room described as having “2 bathrooms, shower, free toiletries, and a hair dryer,” but nowhere did it say the bathroom was shared. That’s dishonest. The bathrooms were always dirty and wet, and there was simply no information about sharing them. I wouldn’t recommend this place.
