Vale Apartments Barcelona

The area seemed promising, but after a day or so it just wasn’t working for us. There wasn’t much typical tourist shopping or decent food nearby, and people experiencing homelessness were regularly asking for support. Inside, sound carried badly between floors, and we could hear what sounded like elephants moving around upstairs. Street noise was already excessive, then the cleaning staff started very early and woke guests. When we asked them to keep it down, they basically told us tough luck. It also took them more than three hours to clean a unit, which felt suspicious. I wouldn’t leave valuables out. Unless you’re deaf, I’d avoid staying here.

We didn’t spend a single night there. The place was dirty, too hot, and felt unlivable, so our group of nine had to move to a hotel. It was the most awful start to the holiday. We asked for a full refund, but they refused and are still advertising the apartment as somewhere people can stay. I’ve posted updated photos. Don’t book with them. We booked through Marriott home and villas and were only given the address, not the apartment name, so it was hard to find reviews. At 5pm on Friday, our check-in time, we found dirty floors, hair on the bedsheets and floor, no hot water for a shower, and broken air conditioning in the middle of summer. It was so hot that my baby’s eczema began to flare up. We called The Vale apartment customer service to report everything and ask for the baby cot they were meant to provide. Nothing was dealt with. They couldn’t find a maintenance person, and their email said the air conditioning was still unfixed three days later, on Monday. They said a cot would be delivered right away at 5pm, but none had arrived by 8:30pm.

We were a family of 19 spread across two apartments on the same floor, which worked perfectly for us. Both places were clean and well serviced, and the location was convenient, with lots of great restaurants nearby. The customer service was excellent too. We really appreciated their help when we had some medical emergencies. I’d certainly recommend this apartment.

There were nine of us, from age 5 to 70, and everyone was comfortable here. The apartment felt lovely and spacious, with plenty of facilities, even tablets for the kids. Just a small tip: when it’s fully occupied, leave more shampoo and shower gel, and maybe add some hair conditioner 🙂
