I hate booking a hotel with good reviews and only later finding the bad ones buried deep on the page. That’s what happened with my stay at Hotel Eetu Begur. The receptionists and cleaning staff were nice, there’s parking, and the pool area looks pretty good. The hotel is close to a somewhat nice beach. Those are the positives. The place feels spooky and odd to me. Everything is very old and falling apart, and the colours and setup make it look like things were picked up at a garage sale and thrown into a room. The photos make it clear how dated it is, but old can be nice. Here, it just feels run down, like it was last renovated 20 years ago. I was in a suite, or at least what they call a suite. The bed was rock hard and really uncomfortable. I have trouble sleeping anyway, and I think I only got about three hours last night. I’d seen complaints about the restaurant and didn’t bother trying it because I assumed it would be bad. I paid almost €200. I’d say the place is worth €80 at most, so it costs more than twice what the quality merits. For €300, I’d rather stay at the hotel next door, which is a bit nicer and has a large salt water pool, though even that one is overpriced. In summer, you pay double for half of what you expect. I’d suggest L'escala, where I recommend Hotel Can Miquel. I’m staying there now and it’s really nice. Or fly to Mallorca, or even better, go to Greece, where the value for everything is much better. I know bad reviews affect employees, and I’m sorry about that. I hope the owners see this and renovate as soon as possible.

The food and drinks were great, the room was lovely, and the pool was one of the best I’ve seen at a hotel. Service was 10/10, with a special shout out to Jose, who really made our stay perfect. We came over Easter and will definitely return. A fantastic break on the Costa brava, thanks for a great time!

We spent four nights here and enjoyed every one. The room had a sea view, though there was no coffee maker. I could probably have asked for one, but didn’t bother since it wasn’t a big deal. The pool is fantastic, a nice size for relaxing quietly or spending time with other guests. Breakfast is well organized, and you can order eggs. They have chickens out back, so I think the eggs are fresh. The tapas cover the basics and worked well for lunch after a beach morning. Dinner was good too, and some dishes were a real bargain for the area. We didn’t eat here for every meal, to be clear. The owner is very nice and approachable, and seems happy to chat about almost anything. The staff are excellent, attentive and a good mix of personalities. They keep things relaxed and familiar. I’d recommend it for a quiet weekend or an easy break.

There’s plenty to do around here, but it still doesn’t feel like you’re surrounded by tourists. The hotel is charming, in a great spot if you want to escape the crowds, and only a five minute walk from Platja Fonda. The rooms are fairly basic, but everything else is top notch: brilliant staff, an excellent breakfast, really good meals and a great pool area. Can’t wait to come back!

The garden is beautiful, the room was clean and breakfast was really nice. There are several nearby beaches where you can relax away from the city noise. The staff were the most welcoming we’ve come across at any hotel in Europe so far. We had such a lovely stay and I’d happily return. I just wish we could have stayed longer.
