Hotel Fonda Maria is right beside the road, with huge parking spaces, which made it really convenient with a car and trailer. I stopped for the night on my way back from Spain, just before crossing into France. After ten hours of driving, I didn’t expect dinner to be such a treat. The brie, white bean, and Spanish ham salad was a mix of high-quality ingredients, nicely balanced, beautifully presented, and dressed with very good oil and spices. I was sad when it was gone. The famous Trinxat, a traditional mountain dish of cabbage and potato with local sausages and bacon, was delicious and very well made too. They also have a very good selection of wines from different regions. I chose a Heus Negre from Empordà, which was absolutely delicious. For dessert I had a very good take on “cheese cake,” and ate it before I could even take a photo. Sorry! The whole team deserves thanks. This is definitely going on my list of places to stop on future trips.

The staff were super welcoming, and it’s not far from the ski resorts. Good value for money. The rooms are fine and still functional, though they could use a refurbishment. I’d definitely come back when the occasion is right.

We stopped here for a meal while traveling to Andorra. The mountain views were beautiful, the food delicious, and the service polite. They could have served us a little faster.
