The views and location were just what we wanted, and the room was spotless. We’d read a couple of reviews beforehand and weren’t sure what to expect, so we arrived with an open mind. The staff were incredibly friendly, and we ended up absolutely delighted with our stay. Highly recommend.

The restaurant was the biggest letdown. The food was poor, even the soup was cold or tasteless, and the roast beef, pork, and fish at the hot plate were sometimes delayed and not cooked very well. I definitely won’t return. Our first room, 214, was tucked in a corner overlooking bins, with road noise. Reception moved us to a room on the 6th Floor, which had a lovely view, but the lift noise was a real pain at 6 every morning. The room itself was very dated. The bed was comfortable, towels were changed daily, and it was kept clean, but the click style flooring had gaps and made a lot of noise underfoot. There were plenty of sun beds in November, though they were dated and needed a good clean.

The balcony was huge and the view was amazing. Inside, the room looked a little tired, but it was clean when we arrived and cleaned every day. The bed was very comfortable.

The restaurant felt more like a canteen, and the food was awful. We even had to check the crockery to find clean pieces. I wouldn't return. The hotel doesn't feel like a four star place and badly needs a full renovation. The corridors are very dark, and although the rooms are spacious, they're very old. The floors creak, some are lifting, and there was black mould around the shower screens where they met the bath. The bathroom sink tops are plywood and were rotting. It's closing for four weeks in January, but I doubt that means a refurbishment. Maybe they'll just give it a lick of paint.
