Hotel Mayna

Apart from the internet, this is a decent, affordable hotel in a great location. The Wi-Fi only worked for me at reception or in the hallways, and my dad had the same problem in his room. People rely on internet access for so much now, so I really think they need to fix the coverage. I’d have recommended the hotel if we could have used Wi-Fi in our rooms.

This is a small Spanish hotel that seems mainly aimed at Spanish guests. The place was nice and clean, and the staff were friendly, especially the dining room waitress. The limited food choice let it down: there were chips nearly every night, and some nights only one meat option and fish, with no gravy or sauce. Dessert choices weren’t great either. The cleaner made the beds, changed the towels roughly every other day, and changed the sheets at least twice.

The smell was terrible, and you could hear a toilet being flushed from the lobby. I found the attitude toward guests rude, with staff who weren’t friendly and could be quite aggressive. There was no Wi-Fi or phone signal inside the building, and not all the facilities they claim to have were available. Don’t waste your time or money booking here. Save it and stay somewhere else.

The location and price were good, and our room was clean. Most of the staff were friendly, especially the helpful woman in the dining room, but one waiter there was incredibly rude. He bullied elderly guests and kept bumping into people. We slept fine the first night, but after that drunken guests came in at all hours and made it impossible to sleep. I know the hotel couldn’t necessarily prevent that. The food wasn’t very good either. We’d paid for breakfast and dinner but skipped the last few evenings because dealing with that waiter several times a day made the stay unpleasant. I wouldn’t return.
