Rosamar Benidorm Hotel

Great rooms, plenty of lovely food and friendly staff. Ignore the negative reviews, I’d definitely stay here again. My one complaint was kids running around and being a nuisance all evening. Their parents weren’t watching them because they were on holiday.

We were on the left side of the hotel, so our balcony got hot sun all the time. It sounded like the right side never gets sun. Everything is within walking distance. I’m a fussy eater, but the snack bar’s pizza, chips, burgers and toasties were lovely. Breakfast in the food hall was nice too, though it was the same each day: fresh fried eggs and the usual full English choices, with Spanish bacon and sausages. I came with my partner and our 8 year old son, for our first family holiday abroad. The hotel was VERY loud at night. We were on the third floor, and the walls and doors were paper thin. The all-inclusive bar might close at 11pm, but people kept coming in drunk and making lots of noise in the corridor at all hours. Someone even tried to enter our room. My son kept waking up, and the children in the room above us were running around at all hours, making a lot of noise. The main woman at reception was VERY rude and unhelpful. She wouldn’t even look at us when we asked a question. Cleanliness was poor too, with hair, dust and dirt mainly on the floors. The bedding wasn’t changed, even though reception said it would be every three days, and the milk left in the room had gone off. Everything beyond reception needs a lick of paint and looks worn and dirty. I wouldn’t stay again unless I was coming for a drinking holiday, as that seems to be what most guests are there for. It’s not somewhere I’d choose for families or kids.

The food had a good variety and was reasonable quality. The solarium is worth a try if you want some peace, and the pool area is nice, busy but not too bad. Recent redevelopment has improved the Rosamar, and it’s in a great location. We stayed in room 1327 on the 13th floor, one of the newer rooms in the extension. It was a good size with good beds and great views, but smelled damp and had a bit of mould on the bathroom ceiling. The extra lift added after the rebuild has helped a little, though the lifts are still pretty terrible. All in all, I’d recommend it.

The main issues were the other guests: people were noisy in all the public areas, and kids running wild in the restaurant were a liability. The shirt rule for indoor public spaces wasn’t enforced, which led to some unfortunate sights. There also weren’t enough lifts for the number of people trying to use them. On the good side, our room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the hotel staff were pleasant and helpful. There was plenty of food in the restaurant buffet.
