Catalonia Gran Vía Bilbao

The hotel is in a safe area, easy to drive to, and convenient for walking around Bilbao. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Rocio helped with an unusual room service request, and Dhamar made me feel welcome and comfortable, even complimenting my broken Spanish. They made the stay memorable. A couple of bedroom fixtures and finishes needed repair, and the balcony was a bit dirty and had no cover when it rained. Aside from that, no complaints. I’d happily stay again and recommend it.

Breakfast was probably the highlight, with fresh fruit and lots of hot and cold choices. The Spa cost extra, but was reasonably priced and a nice way to unwind after walking around the sights. The reception team welcomed us warmly, gave us a map, and suggested places to visit. The hotel sits on a main street near the river, a great starting point for exploring the city. Our room was spacious and clean, and everything worked. We’ve stayed with this chain before and will again.

We’d happily come back. It was quiet in the room at night, with a little balcony facing the hotel’s enclosed patio, and we couldn’t hear the hall or other rooms. The shower was fantastic, and the AC actually worked, unlike at two other Spanish hotels we’d stayed in. Breakfast had loads to choose from. We especially liked the fruit, yogurt, granola and croughnuts. The staff were helpful and professional; they even offered to arrange a cab at checkout after we’d already sorted out our ride to the bus station. There’s a lovely park across the street, plus plenty of shops and restaurants within an easy walk.

We tried the spa’s water circuit and thought it was worth it. The room was well looked after, had a nice balcony and came with all the essentials. Breakfast was a real highlight, with freshly squeezed orange juice, five kinds of fruit, plenty of granola, pancakes and eggs made at a station. A very nice hotel. I’d recommend it and would come back.
