voco Bilbao City by IHG

The hotel isn't right in the center, but the neighborhood was quiet and we liked the view from the window. We had a very good stay at voco Bilbao - City by IHG. We were unexpectedly moved to a spacious, clean room. We're not sure why, maybe there was some issue with payment, but it was a lovely surprise. The bed was comfortable, and the room also had a sofa and an iron. We appreciated having coffee and water each day. The staff were friendly and helpful, so we left with a very positive impression.

Lufthansa booked me into this hotel after my flight was cancelled. The employees were very kind, and the room had everything I needed for the night. I was glad they had a small menu available for passengers even though it was late in the evening. From what I could tell, the hotel is quite far from the nearest Metro station, but only a short walk from the city center. I left early, so I can't comment on breakfast.

The room layout was odd, though it still worked, and everything was clean. The bed was comfortable. What really stood out was how careful they were about guest security. I arrived before my partner, who was travelling from elsewhere. When he got there, the hotel called me to confirm he had arrived, said his name, and asked whether they could give him a key. As a woman who often travels alone, I really appreciated that. Great job. It's about a 15-minute walk to the city centre, and I think around 30 minutes to Guggenheim.

For the price, this was a great hotel, and the staff were so friendly and keen to help. Chef Xabier deserves a special mention. He was happy to cook something especially for you, share his recipes and make the meal a pleasure. Xavier was a real plus.
