Breakfast started with Marisol greeting me with a big smile. She also packed a thermos of cafe con leche for the walk to Las Medulas, where there are no services. The night before, she looked after me on the Winter Way (Camino Invierno) with a home-cooked traditional soup, fresh-baked bread, eggs and chips, and vino Tinto. It’s a bit pricey, but I think it’s good value, and Marisol was very helpful.

The boss and his sister are friendly and helpful, and there are plenty of regulars who like staying here. I’ve been before and plan to return in early May 2025. It’s a great little place, with comfortable rooms, good food, beer and wine, and a nice atmosphere.

There’s not much reason to linger here. It’s somewhere to rest, use the pool, sleep, and leave as soon as you can. The location and room are okay, the pool is okay, and the price isn’t bad, but the service doesn’t measure up to the rest. You have to plan around the hotel workers’ hours. When the bar is open, stick to drinks. If you get hungry when there’s no service, you’d better drive 20 km to the nearest supermarket and get something before asking anyone at the hotel. I never meant to disrespect anyone’s rights. I’m just saying what to expect when staying here. And we didn’t ask for dinner, only any kind of snack.

The breakfast was superb, and my room was luxurious by pilgrim standards, really nice by any standard. I stayed here for my first night on the Invierno in 2019 and enjoyed the wonderful hospitality.
