Hotel Rural Via Natura

The food at the two gourmet dinners was excellent, but the rushed pace ruined the meals, even after we asked for more time between courses. When we asked for another glass of wine at 10.30pm, Paco refused, saying it wasn’t worth hanging around while we finished. That left us choosing between taking wine to our room in a plastic beaker or going out into the cold to find a bar. We’d booked two romantic nights at Hotel Via Nature, including both dinners. The hotel was very quiet, with just four other guests each night. Restaurant guests are only accepted with 24 hours’ notice and a minimum of six people. Our basic room wasn’t serviced on the second day. Paco runs the hotel with his wife and no other staff. He called staff lazy parasites, and from his comments and attitude, he seems to hate his business and, by extension, his clients. For everyone’s sake, he should follow through on his desperate wish to retire from the hotel business.

After a long drive, this small, quiet hotel felt just like home, with a super friendly team. The restaurant alone makes it worth stopping. We really enjoyed the fresh local food, with delicious, carefully prepared dishes like you’d find at the trendiest restaurants, but at unbeatable prices. We’ll definitely be back.

We only went for lunch, not a hotel stay. The location was fabulous, and the host gave us great advice about what to order and which wine to choose. Everything was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. I’d highly recommend visiting.
