We cancelled our stay and left feeling unsafe and badly let down. When we arrived, the building was being renovated and painted, and its entrance door had been left open. The apartment smelled strongly of grease. Sheets and towels were stained, dust covered everything including the headboard, there were bread crumbs on the counter and food left in the microwave, and even the washed dishes were still stained. We photographed it and asked the landlord to arrange cleaning. They refused, saying they'd never had this complaint before, and offered to cancel if we wanted. We did. As we were leaving, the doorbell rang and the landlord was there with two women we assumed were cleaners. They hadn't announced themselves, which made us uneasy, so we hurried out. We would have stayed if the landlord had been helpful, but their response meant we had to book another hotel at the last minute for much more money.

We stayed for one day as three people in July 2022, and paid €92.34. The location was excellent, and this was probably the most beautiful apartment we've stayed in. We walked along the waterfront, though we didn't get to swim or go onto the sand because we only had one day. The view was stunning and panoramic, and the wide promenade had a sports area. The owner doesn't ask for a deposit, which mattered to us after an earlier stay where one wasn't returned. Many Cadiz apartments ask for €150-200 and say it will be refunded after a 2-3 day inspection. That leaves renters unprotected, especially for a one-day stay. We found this apartment after a long search on Booking.com, and it's worth reading the listing carefully since deposit requirements are usually buried in the Notes at the bottom. Check-in was contactless. You have to download an app, register for check-in and checkout, photograph the people staying, and provide ID documents. You set your arrival time, then the key is activated in the app from then on. We checked in at 2:00 PM and left at 11:00 AM. Your phone opens both the building and apartment doors. Inside, there was Netflix and a well-equipped kitchen with a kettle, cups, sugar, tea, shower gel, hair dryer, iron, ironing board, and washing machine. There was also a second balcony in the living room. The shower had a fairly large window facing the entrance hall and landing. The building was beautiful and clean, with huge mirrors and large paintings on every floor. The table had everything needed to file a complaint, and a coffee table notice said Booking would charge €20 if guests didn't take out the trash and clean the kitchen afterward. The nearby "Vin Vins" café had delicious meals for €6, with portions big enough even for a hungry adult.
